LEVEL 4 MEDITATION – INTRODUCTION

I have always written anonymously on this website because, to me, who I am is insignificant relative to the teachings of Christ. Hence, I have tried to write in such a way that the Truth is irrefutable to the reader so the credibility of the writer becomes irrelevant. This has been my attempt to keep my personal self out of the picture so the teachings are clear and concise. So far this has worked out, but I now find myself at a point that I need to explain some of my background so the reader will understand the context within which a new level of meditation has been revealed to me.

I have been on the spiritual path for over 50 years, and in the early days, even though I ventured into Eastern Meditation and Taoist Qigong, I have always considered myself to be a Christian and have had a deep spiritual impulse since I was a child. As a result of learning internal contemplation and meditation, I always wanted to have a deeper experience of Jesus Christ than religions were capable of providing. This led me into the study of what is commonly called Mystical Christianity. By definition, this simply means that one approaches the teachings of Christ esoterically, which is focusing on the internal experience of knowing Jesus and the Christ Light.

The one issue which has perplexed me over these 50 years of walking the spiritual path is that Christianity does not have a meditation system comparable to the Eastern systems. I do not like to compare the great spiritual leaders of history, but for me, there is no denying that the events and miracles in the life of Jesus Christ as well as the resurrection and ascension were unique in comparison to other avatars, especially when considering the profound impact His crucifixion has had on all of humanity, even to this day. I readily admit that, in the past, I was envious of Yoga systems in which students could trace their spiritual awakening to a live guru; this was always presented as a vital point of their “enlightenment.” After much thought and contemplation, I realized that there was no reason that Jesus Christ could not be my teacher or “guru” since there was really no barrier, even death, which could keep Him from guiding me in my meditational pursuit of knowledge and enlightenment.

In the early years of my spiritual quest, I was able to separate myself from the world, studying and meditating in a monastic setting for about 7 years; but as the years rolled on, it was a struggle to find that same serenity while working and raising a family. It has only been in the last 20 years that I have been able to really get focused on my spiritual life and part of that was starting this website in 2003; I research and write full-time in the winter, and in the summer, I write papers between chores. My life is intensely focused on writing, researching and always looking for that ultimate meditation experience that would define the true spiritual, enlightenment goal for Christian meditation.

I am familiar with and practiced the highest goals of Kriya Yoga which is a breathing technique taught by Paramahansa Yogananda of drawing the Kundalini forces up the spine to the third eye while making a particular sound, and on the out-breath, guiding the energies back to the base of the spine while making another sound. I also practiced a standing Qigong series of exercises which entailed learning what is called the Grand Circulation. From there I learned and practiced the highest Taoist goal called the Fusion of the Five Elements which involved creating the pearl which forms the immortal energy body. I learned a great deal from these systems and was extremely grateful for having these experiences, but as much as I enjoyed the experience – I knew this was not the Way of Life Jesus intended for me to follow; besides, these systems always stress the importance of having a live teacher to guide you. So here I was again…

Originally, I had a system of meditation on this site which was the best of my knowledge and experience at the time, but I was dissatisfied with it and eventually removed it and started over from scratch, as explained at the end of Level 3. I had a breakthrough about 5-7 years ago and the present system of meditation on this site gradually revealed itself to me. I knew I was on track this time because of how well this transformative system worked and how it awakened the Christ Light within. I truly felt the guidance of Jesus and the Spirit during the writing process. After writing Level 3, I thought I was finished, but at present, another level of meditation is being revealed to me. As it turns out, this is going to be a synthesis of all 3 levels of meditation in the spiritual heart… and the insights are still coming so please standby! I continue to practice and refine the meditation techniques I am shown and will present this next level when it is clear to me. I must be confident this meditation system conforms to the Way of Life Jesus Christ wants us to follow.

I say this because in the early years of my journey on the spiritual path, Jesus appeared to me during an evening meditation and communicated to me a wordless affirmation regarding this path I am presently walking. Consequently, I am always concerned that my writings and teachings are correct and in accord with the will of the Holy Trinity. In fact, the most profound moment of this experience pervades my writings – when I looked into the eyes of Jesus, I understood why he said, “And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.” (John 12:45) At that moment, what I experienced was not the Father, but the complete absence of the personality of Jesus. By this I mean that the human being we know as Jesus had achieved TOTAL selflessness – “he was not there” – and I realized that the presence before me was that of the Father! Selflessness is how we become one with our Father in Heaven.

I have always felt that the path of Christian meditation would be very different than any of the Eastern meditation systems, and such a system would not require a “living” guru; rather, it would require each of us to personally connect with Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit as our teacher or “guru.” This new system is being revealed to me through a series of remarkable insights and it may involve a particular technique for regenerating the physical body which is what Jesus demonstrated in the resurrection. Presently, I am finishing the necessary research, gathering the diagrams to explain the internal dynamics and will begin writing soon.

The diagram below is the closest representation I can find to explain the dynamics for integrating the 3 levels of meditation on this site. At present, I believe Level 4 Meditation will be an entirely new perspective on meditation. Stay tuned!
